Formed in 1800s, by a citizenry of 16 families, the name East Point derived from being located at the opposite end of the former Atlanta & West Point Railroad from West Point, Georgia.
The City of East Point possesses many great attributes including its close proximity to Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and downtown Atlanta. It is approximately 13.8 miles with a population of over 33,000. This quaint urban community is the fifth largest city in Fulton County, and one of 46 Georgia cities to receive the designation of a "Main Street Community" by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs.
East Point hosts over 100 shops, boutiques and restaurants in the renowned Historical Downtown District and Camp Creek Marketplace, which is over a million square feet of commercial and retail space. The City's prime location, establishment of a new government center, development of the Commons area, re-development of Fort McPherson and numerous retail and restaurants make it a viable destination and an attractive place for a "live-work-play-shop" environment.
